My mom, Ruth DeGabriele, is turning 100 years old on Saturday, June 13th, 2020

She has been a West Seattle resident since 1942!

My mom was born in Beattie, Kansas. Her parents lost their farm in the Dust Bowl and the family traveled out west in 1937 in the “truck house” – a truck her father converted to a mobile home for them to travel in.

West Seattle Bridge Now coalition moves to its own site to drive more dialog

The currently damaged and closed West Seattle Bridge has caused some major transportation headaches for all those living and working on the West Seattle peninsula. A coaltion of community members and business owners that first formed on Facebook and grew to have nearly 500 members has made the leap to the web. They have also produced a video to promote the message that solutions to the transportation issues facing the community must come as soon as possible.

West Seattle Bridge Now is launching a website to keep the community connected to the latest information on solutions to the closure of the bridge. The group plans to grow the website into a comprehensive resource with project updates, event calendars and most importantly how to get involved and make your voice heard in the planning process. On the site you can sign up for email updates, and follow West Seattle Bridge now on social media.
