UPDATE: Argument in RV leads to stabbing; Arrest made

information from Seattle Police

One man was stabbed early Tuesday following a dispute between a landlord and tenant in a rented motorhome in the Highland Park neighborhood.

Around 1:30 AM, the landlord called police and said he’d been stabbed near Detroit Ave Southwest & 1st Ave Southwest.

The tenant had also called 911 and claimed he had stabbed the victim in self-defense during a dispute.

Officers found the victim, who was bleeding from his abdomen, and learned he had gone to the motorhome to contact the tenant, who had allegedly changed the locks and stopped paying rent.

The victim had asked to be let inside, had asked to use the bathroom, and then emerged to find the suspect armed with a knife. The tenant then stabbed him.

The tenant told police he believed the victim had previously stolen several hundred dollars worth of items from the motorhome and thrown water on his bed.

Metro will deactivate the Emergency Snow Network Jan. 2

information from King County Metro

The New Year brings good news. Metro will deactivate the Emergency Snow Network (ESN) at 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2. In expectation of clearer roads and a milder weather forecast, King County Metro will begin to restore transit service previously suspended by snow.

All Metro bus routes active on weekends will operate on their regular schedules starting Jan. 2 where road conditions allow.

Metro vehicle maintenance crews have shifted away from chaining and retrieving stuck buses and have started repairs to damaged buses that operated during the winter storm. Metro is assessing the number of available buses and whether any routes may need to remain temporarily suspended on Monday, Jan. 3, as additional repairs are completed.

Crazy cool: Hundreds take the New Years Day plunge on Alki Beach

Once again, it appears that hundreds of people may have questionable sanity (or perhaps they are the only sane ones) as they gathered on Alki Beach (masked and vaxed) to plunge into the cold waters of Puget Sound to mark the new year on January 1.

Event organizer Mark Ufkes noted that with the current cold snap "the water is 20 degrees warmer than the air!" which likely proved to be cold comfort for ladies in bikini's and men in trunks.

Precisely at 10am Ufkes began the countdown, his bullhorn blaring the announcement.

Shrieks of either shock or joy or a combination soon followed as people ran headlong into the water, many holding hands, and others going solo.

Ufkes summed it up best perhaps by saying, "Sanity is overrated."
