Marc's View: Does democracy have an expiration date?

By Marc Lainhart

As an Independent - Constitutionalist, Veteran, and Professional Psychic, I now have great concern and a deep sadness witnessing this broken two-party system destroy the UNITED” States of America. Perhaps all that is happening today needs to happen and unfold through chaos, dysfunction, and division. Giving birth to new parties, new ideas, new people, new transformations, new ways of governing, new energy for how to legislate for EVERYONE, and bring people, family, friends, and colleagues back together in a more moderate fashion vs. this extreme left and extreme right agendas that we all are seeing daily.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand” -said Abraham Lincoln.

White Center Food Bank needs your help after 4th of July break in

Over the 4th of July holiday weekend the administrative area of the White Center Food Bank was broken into and burglarized. They lost computers, tools, grow lights for their garden, headphones, other electronics and more that they are still trying to sort out.

Please keep an eye out for anyone selling or dumping these items and please let them know at admin@whitecenterfoodbank.org.

This is heartbreaking for a non-profit food bank with the sole intent of serving our neighbors, but they know they will get through it with the community’s support. They are filing an insurance claim, but if you wish to support the recovery of stolen items, they have set up a ‘Theft Recovery Fund’ designation on our donation website: https://whitecenterfoodbank.networkforgood.com/

Zippy's Giant Burgers closing forever July 10

West Seattle/White Center and northwest known favorite, Zippy's Giant Burgers on 15th SW in White Center announced on July 5 the sudden closure of the restaurant on July 10.

Zippy's has consistently ranked among the best burgers in Seattle and was originally in Highland Park on Holden Street, moving to the White Center location in 2011.

They announced their closure on social media.

It is with heavy hearts that we are closing Zippy’s Giant Burgers after 14 years. Sadly, our last day of business will be Sunday, July 10th, 2022.

To say this decision is heart breaking is a monumental understatement. Over the last two years, we have done everything we could to try to keep Zippy’s open for business. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, all of our efforts have been thwarted.
