The Fauntleroy Fine Arts and Holiday Gift Show is back for 2022 and will feature paintings, jewelry, and a wide variety of work from local artists. Artists from West Seattle, Vashon Island and beyond participate in this unique display of talent.

Shoplifter in Admiral District punches employee, runs, pulls a knife and escapes

#2022-294336/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

At 7:30pm Nov. 1, a suspect entered a grocery store in the Admiral neighborhood where he shoplifted $20.00 worth of merchandise.

Suspect exited the store and was confronted by loss prevention at which time the suspect punched him in the face and took off running.

Loss prevention chased the suspect approximately a block and a half before the suspect stopped and turned on him. The suspect pulled a knife and raised it above his head in a stabbing motion and yelled he had a knife.

Loss prevention stopped pursuit. SFD responded and treated the loss prevention officer for a minor injury.

Man shot to death in West Seattle; Suspect at large

Detectives are investigating after a man was shot and killed in the Riverview neighborhood early Thursday morning. 

At 12:22 a.m., police responded to the 5200 block of 17th Avenue Southwest for reports of shots heard. The area is a few blocks north of South Seattle College.

Officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound inside a residence. Police and Seattle Fire Department medics attempted lifesaving measures, but medics declared the man deceased at the scene.

Members of SPD’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to process the scene for evidence. 

Homicide Detectives also responded and will lead the ongoing investigation.

King County Prosecutor's office expresses concern and explanation about car jacking suspect release

Regarding the press release this morning from Des Moines Police, King County prosecutors share the police chief’s concerns about the release of armed carjacking suspects, which is why we argued for suspects in this case to be held in detention. 

Unfortunately, multiple suspects were released over prosecutors’ objection.

On October 29, 2022 at about 2348 hrs, a sergeant with the Des Moines Police Department was flagged down by two male citizens in the area of S. 216th ST and Pacific Hwy S. The victims were visibly upset and appeared frightened. Both stated they had just been approached by four to five male subjects armed with handguns and demanded they lay down in the middle of the street. One victim indicated a suspect pointed a handgun at his head, charged a bullet into the chamber, and then ordered him to hand over his personal possessions. The victim complied as he was in fear for his life. The suspects then stole the other victim’s vehicle after pointing guns at him.
