If you see cameras and lights  on the West Seattle Bridge this Sunday, Nov. 6 don't be alarmed, it's just a commercial being shot by Robbins Digital Media for online use.

It will likely cause some rolling slow downs from 7am till Noon. on both the  West Seattle Bridge & Spokane St Viaduct eastbound and westbound. According to the permit the city granted the producers will be filming a vehicle driving on the West Seattle Bridge with the assistance of Seattle Police Officers.

The rest of the permit states:

"Rolling slowdowns are performed for safety to the public and the film production to allow filming activity without closing streets or stopping traffic. The rolling slowdowns will occur alternately on the westbound and eastbound lanes of the West Seattle Bridge. Temporary vehicle holds on onramps to the Spokane Street Viaduct and West Seattle Bridge will also take place.

Information from Des Moines Police Department

On 11/1/22 at about 1510 hrs, officers were dispatched to a fight in progress near 11th AVE S and S 222 ST in Des Moines. Officers were updated by a 911 caller that the victim was working for the King County Water District and was now on the ground, “possibly unconscious.” This 911 caller was a co- worker of the victim who began recording the assault on his phone.

Officers arrived on scene and found the victim sitting on the ground, now conscious, with his eyes and face “extremely swollen” and bloodied shirt. Officers also observed a male matching the suspect description walking away from the victim. After a brief confrontation and struggle with officers, the suspect was taken into custody.

Information from South Seattle College

South Seattle College and the Northwest Wine Academy (NWWA) are excited to announce the NWWA Tasting Room, Wine Bar and Retail Store is reopening on Nov. 4, 2022. Hours of operation will be 1-6 p.m. on most Fridays and Saturdays (a more detailed schedule is shared below).  

The tasting room has been closed for the past few years, and NWWA looks forward to welcoming the community once again to share amazing local, student-produced wines.  

The West Seattle Junction is adding to its annual Hometown Holidays this Dec 3rd by creating a festival of lights for all to enjoy.

Our beautiful lighted trees will be the backdrop for a light costume parade where community members are encouraged to promenade around the Junction dressed in outfits decorated with lights and be contestants in a costume contest.

Contestants will be tagged by specially chosen artists (whose own outfits will be amazing) during the promenade from 5pm-6:00pm entering them into the competition on stage where the crowd will vote for their favorite at 6:30pm.
