In an unusual move in Seattle politics six of the former candidates for the Seattle City Council District 1 seat have joined together to endorse Maren Costa over her opponent Rob Saka.
Costa and Saka finished first and second in the primary election and will face one another in the general election on November 7.
The former candidates write:
An Open Letter to Seattle’s District One Residents,
We, the undersigned, Seattle City Council District One candidates, proud residents of West Seattle, passionate believers in the future of our great city, hereby endorse our one-time opponent Maren Costa to be the next Seattle City Council member representing District One.
Three West Seattle businesses will close soon (Sept. 30) due to the sale of the building they occupy. Heartbeet Cafe, Youngstown Coffee and Launchpad Co-Working space in the 6000 block of California Ave SW are all affected. Heartbeet will also close their original location on Queen Anne. It means the loss of those jobs and a source of organic foods in the neighborhood. The owners of Youngstown Coffee shared the news via an email to friends and customers:

Hamburgers have been part of the human dining table for more than 200 years though their exact origin is a little unclear. In essence they are traditionally a meat (most commonly beef) with condiments between two slices of some sort of bun. They were meant to be a fast, easy convenience food. As with all foods widely known and enjoyed they have been the base for wild experimentation with countless variations.
The earliest burger I remember was from Lou’s in White Center and 19 cents got you a basic beef hamburger. Maybe two pickle slices, mustard and ketchup.
Information from ArtsWest
ArtsWest Playhouse announces the first show in the 2023-24 Season, "Sometimes I Dream...". Kicking off this season is the comedy Matt & Ben, by Mindy Kaling (The Office, Mindy Project) and Brenda Withers. Matt & Ben serves as a perfectly funny introduction to a season that explores how different people pursue their dreams and promises audiences a refreshing way to end their summer. The show will run from September 7th - October 1st, 2023, at ArtsWest and will be directed by local artist Zenaida Rose Smith.
The night will be filled with dance, song, games and chance to connect with community. The core of this group has big plans in bringing the Drag experience to the Kenyon Hall neighborhood. While many of those ideas and plans are under development the Kenyon Hall Cabaret is a great jump start to getting to know some Local Drag Artists who, through time bring you down the rabbit hole of Performance art.
