Evergreen High School alum Senio Kelemete '08 was honored this week as a Husky Legend.
Senio was a key member of the last Evergreen football team (2007) to win a league championship, beat rival Kennedy and make it to the state playoffs. He was the #11 football recruit in WA state and one of the top HS offensive lineman/tackles in the nation.
Senio played four seasons with the UW Huskies (2008-11), where he was team captain during his junior and senior year. He was drafted in 2012 by the Arizona Cardinals and has played nine seasons in the NFL.

Mode Music and Performing Arts is holding a "Friendsgiving Fundraiser" on November 17th with live music, delicious dinner, local libations, and a heartwarming live auction to support Mode Music & Performing Art’s accessible arts programs.
Friendsgiving will be hosted on Friday, November 17th, 2023, 5:30pm - 10pm, at SoDo Park located at 3200 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134.
The evening, emceed by KEXP DJ Troy Nelson, will be filled with Herban Feast catering, local drinks, student & teacher performances plus a live musical performance by Tio Nacho’s House.
Seattle Parks and Recreation's (SPR) plans to repurpose a former tennis court, that became a storage area for more than 10 years, as new Pickleball courts has drawn the ire of community activists.
On Saturday the latest protest against the plan took place with around 40 people gathered on the proposed site, some carrying protest signs to hear Denise Dahn of the Seattle Nature Alliance speak.
Dahn said, "When we spend time in nature and with all other living things it not only nourishes us, but it nourishes the entire community. Because we open our hearts and love nature, we love each other."
Hundreds of students at Chief Sealth International High School walked out on Friday, many wearing pink. The walkout was regarding the discovery of sexually charged text messages regarding named female students by members of the football team.
Those protesting feel that the suspension from the team was not enough punishment for the acts and wore pink in support of those female students named.
Kids of all ages and parents too are welcome to visit the West Seattle Junction Sunday Oct. 29 for Halloween in the Junction from 11am to 2pm
The event will feature trick or treating with participating merchants plus The W.S.H.S. Marching Band & Costume Parade at 11:00.
At 12 Noon the Seattle Thrillers will perform.
Shortly after 4pm on Thursday two shootings took place, within a few minutes of each other resulting in one death and three others injured.
According to the Seattle Police Department the incidents are connected.
The first happened near Golden Gardens Park taking the life of a male in his 40's. A second male in his 20s was taken to Harborview Medical Center where he was reprorted to be in stable condition said Seattle Fire.
The second shooting took place at 26th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Market Street involving a 50-year-old female and 38-year-old male who were both shot.. They were transported to Harborview in stable condition, according to Seattle Fire.
A chain of sexually graphic text messages between members of the Chief Sealth International Junior Varsity football team were reported to school staff this week leading to the consideration of cancellation of the game against Roosevelt High School on Friday night, and a protest walkout by students at the school on Friday at 11:50 am.
Instead of cancellation the team members involved have been dismissed from the squad.
At least one varsity player was involved.
The messages refer to graphic sexual violence against named female students.
Chief Sealth Principal Ray Garcia Morales issued a statement to parents that stated the matter was under investigation, disciplinary actions were being weightd, help for students affected is available and further plans for gender equity, and the prevention of sexual harrassment.
