Pat's View: The Dickhead Adjustment

By Patrick Robinson

You’ve seen this many times.

A new building goes up and somebody decides to make it their spray paint canvas with some barely legible tag.

Somebody parks across two parking spaces and you have to keep looking for a place to park.

Backing out of a parking spot, a car races to get past you rather than wait, forcing you to stop.

Someone walks their dog and leaves their droppings on your lawn.

You are walking on the sidewalk and others don’t give you room to pass.

Someone stands up in meeting and launches a highly personal verbal attack on someone.

You are driving in slow traffic and somebody speeds past you, driving in the oncoming lane to get ahead of you, then you see them at the next stoplight.

Someone on the road with a bicycle share lane on a curve decides to race past them veering into the oncoming lane.

Vicki Schmitz shares her family history and how it became part of West Seattle

By Patrick Robinson

If you know anything about West Seattle, you will recognize the last name Schmitz. While the name is known, the story behind it is less so.

The standard bearer of the name for decades now has been Vicki Schmitz and in a conversation with Westside Seattle we explored her personal history and how the Schmitz family came to be woven into the fabric of the West Seattle community.

Vicki was born in Seattle in 1940 as Vicki Lee living in Riverton Heights and at age five, moved to 44th SW and SW Graham Street in West Seattle. Her father was a King County Sheriff and her mother was a homemaker. The family moved to Kent when she was eight, for her father to take the job as first Chief of Police. She attended school in Kent, graduating from Kent Meridian High School in 1957 and moved on to the University of Washington, where she studied English.

Can you help? West Seattle Elementary School teacher's car stolen

WestsideSeattle's news partner Q13 Fox News shared this notice

Rose Glen is an instructional assistant at West Seattle Elementary School. While she was working Thursday her car was stolen from the school parking lot in broad daylight.

She says no officer has been assigned to her case since the department doesn't have resources to dedicate to an auto theft. She's hoping through using GoFundMe that she can either locate her car, or buy a replacement.

The fundraiser can be found here:

Car Stolen From WS Elementary Not Recovered

The GoFundMe Page states:
