Detectives investigating shooting in West Seattle; Over 100 rounds fired

Information from Seattle Police Blotter

by Detective Eric Muñoz on March 31, 2025 7:20 am

Seattle police detectives are investigating a shooting shortly after 9 p.m. last night in West Seattle.

On March 30, patrol officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired and property damage near 26th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Brandon Street. When police arrived, all involved parties left the area. They did not locate any victims with injuries, no suspects, or cooperative witnesses.

Officers determined that a large crowd of people were attending a vigil, likely for one of the recent South Seattle homicide victims earlier in the morning. Responding officers located over 100 fired rounds spanning several blocks around the vigil. There was bullet damage to a nearby RV trailer, a house, and they found a damaged, abandoned vehicle.

Plunge for Patterson raised funds for a good cause

Epidermolysis Bullosa is painful genetic skin condition but research is very promising

The Plunge for Patterson was held Sunday March 30 on Alki Beach in support of research for treatments for Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) , a genetic skin disorder.

Individuals with EB lack critical proteins that bind the skin's two layers together. Without these proteins, the skin tears apart, blisters, and shears off, leading to severe pain, disfigurement, and internal and external wounds that may never heal.

Patterson is a nine year old, who along with his parents have to deal with his condition daily but they champion fund raising efforts like this to help support research into the disorder.

Plunges such as this now take place all over the world. They hope to reach their fundraising goal of $90,000 by the end of April and they are now just over $27,000.

Dow Constantine elected as new Sound Transit CEO

The Sound Transit Board of Directors convened its meeting on March 27, 2025, and in a unanimous vote, approved the agreement to employ Dow Constantine as the agency's next Chief Executive Officer. Constantine's term is set to run from April 1, 2025, through December 31, 2026, with two potential one-year renewal options at the board's discretion.

The selection process, led by recruitment consultant Greg Moer, was described as in-depth, deliberate, and methodical, involving engagement with over 50 different stakeholder groups and individuals. Moer presented a list of 15 qualified candidates to the CEO selection committee, which was later narrowed down to three finalists who underwent extensive interviews involving board members, community members, and Sound Transit employees. The process emphasized confidentiality to attract a wider pool of candidates though Constantine's name was previously made public by a story published in the Seattle Times.
