Loose lock opens Pandora’s box

Mar. 12 at the 1000 block of Nickerson Street officers responded to a reported burglary. The complainant told officers that when she arrived to her place of business she noticed the door was open and that the space had been ransacked. Police determined the suspect gained entry to only the physical therapy portion of the business. Cabinets were opened and a cash box was emptied. The suspect took a safe that contained video cameras and a business licenses. The lock of the door was not damaged so the complainant believed the last person to leave the night before forgot to lock it.

Dumpster devil delivers sludge hammer through door

Mar. 11 at the 7700 block of 15th Avenue Northwest police arrived to the scene and found a dumpster had been moved to the front of the business. The glass door was smashed. Police cleared the scene and when the suspect arrived they looked at the security camera footage and saw that the suspect had moved the dumpster to conceal himself from the camera while he smashed the door with a sludge hammer. The suspect left with a large box. Police saved the footage and no prints were found.

Subway robbery rebuked by sandwich slicer

Mar. 9 at the 1000 block of Greenwood Avenue North officers responded to an attempted robbery at Subway. The employee said that the suspect entered the sandwich shop and pulled a plastic bag from his pants and placed it on the counter. He said to hand over all the cash. The victim was not paying attention and asked what the suspected wanted. The suspect then pulled a semi-automatic handgun from his trousers, but before he could make his demands, the victim grabbed a large knife and ran after him. The suspect in fear of his life ran away. A K-9 unit was dispatched but was unable to track the suspect. While police were collecting evidence another robbery was reported at a Subway in Shoreline. The suspect's description matched. The owner was not available so police were unable to recover footage of the incident.

Garmin guru gleans two autos

Mar. 8 at the 2200 block of Northwest 58th Street responded to a burglary that occurred in a parking garage of an apartment building. The suspect told officers that her car was broken into and that her Garmin Nuvi was taken. She believed her car was unlocked. She also said her husband’s truck was broken into, but nothing was taken or damaged. Police contacted the building manager and they found that the suspect had gained entry through a gate that links her parking area to the QFC parking garage. Footage of the event was recovered.

Jewelry Judas takes 50 pieces and then some

Mar. 7 at the 1000 block o f 14th Avenue Northwest officers responded to a residential burglary. The complainant said that he secured his home when he left for work that day but when he returned he noticed the rear door was open. Items in his home were strewn about and he noticed there were large items moved around, including a wooden chest. He reported that over 50 pieces of jewelry were taken and over $200 in cash. Police were able to lift a print from the wood chest and the back door.
