Aging In Place: Seattle Home Show 2 Launches Nectargy Village, A Home And Health Fair Exclusively For Those Age 50 And Over
Wed, 10/01/2014
Northwesterners will be able to see all the latest in home and services for those age 50 and above when Seattle Home Show 2, the oldest and largest home show in the country, opens its doors October 3 at CenturyLink Field Event Center for its annual three day run.
Making its debut at the 2014 edition of Seattle Home Show 2 is Nectargy Village, a community of home and health vendors geared towards one of the fastest growing demographics today: people age 50 and over.
The idea of aging in place has been a popular trend among Northwest homeowners for several years, but never more so than in 2014. More than 10,000 people will be turning 65 every day for the next 17 years, making the senior issues and aging in place more timely than ever. By 2050, the number of people over age 65 in the U.S. will have doubled, from 40.2 million today to more than 88 million.
To address this growing trend, Nectargy Village has gathered together a variety of businesses that are working together to solve some of the more prominent senior concerns and needs. All providers in the village have been screened and vetted by Nectargy, the exclusive referral network of proven, trusted professionals who assist seniors and empower them to safely purchase a variety of services and products, and provide resources to enhance their lives. Among the businesses represented in Nectargy Village are real estate, mortgage services, insurance solutions, wealth management, health and wellness, remodeling and contracting, in-home care and management and many more.
In addition to Nectargy-vetted businesses, there will be seminars and presentations every hour by nationally-known speakers on a stage within Nectargy Village. Keynote speakers include:
• Dr. Marion, a geriatric expert for over 40 years, who will discuss Elder Fraud Prevention
• Hal Elrod, the inspirational author of Miracle Mornings, who will help show goers create Legacy Journals and Videos.
• Experts from Bastyr University, who will bring holistic health full circle by speaking on anti-aging and healthy aging topics
