Seattle Police respond to car wash neighbor's noise complaints
As a 24 hour business the Car Wash Palace on 35th SW means people can use the facility at any hour. For neighbors that has meant some customers who ignore the rule against loud music, are getting no sleep and experiencing added stress.

The Car Wash Palace on 35th SW at SW Graham Street is a long time fixture for drivers who use the do-it-yourself facility as a quick stop to clean up their cars. But for some, despite the rule against loud music and prominent signage as reminders, their entertainment seems more important.
The neighborhood has grown around the business with apartments nearby and as more people have stayed in the area due to the pandemic, business at the car wash has been steady.
For the local neighbors, the combination of the loud music, vaccum cleaners and the fact that it's a 24 hour facility has led to a group of some 15 people who were fed up with the inability to sleep and the interruption of their evenings. They were on the verge of a lawsuit when they reached out to both the owners and the Seattle Police Department. Now a solution looks like its in the works. According to Jennifer Danner, SW Precinct Crime Prevention Coordinator,
"The SW Precinct met with the two owners, and the Manger of the car wash today. They were very responsive, and have taken many steps in response to the community concerns.
They have put timers on the vacuums that are near the back of the property (closest to homes) so that they are not running during the evening hours. They have hired a security patrol who comes by multiple times every night. There is signage that asks car wash users to limit their music, and they have posted the Manager’s phone number for community members to bring complaints directly to him.
The SW Precinct was very pleased with their collaboration, and we will stay in contact going forward.
As always- It is very important that community members call 911 to report suspicious and/or criminal activity. We will continue to monitor the number of calls at this location, and continue to work with the owners and Manger to address them."
I wish they'd do the same at the car wash in White Center. I live a couple of blocks away and hear those vacuums going off at 3am. I can only hope it's some poor gig driver that had a sloppy drunk passenger rather than someone with no regard for surrounding neighbors.
Not a dam thing happens when people who live in white center complain about noise coming from bars or taverns or noisy neighbors who play their god awful music constantly from 11:00 pm until 4 am in the morning! It’s mostly due to the fact that most neighbors don’t complain and just put up with it!! Which is difficulty to the neighbors who want to live in a neighborhood with some peace and quiet!! I have known neighbors who don’t even call animal control or police when they are attacked by a pit bull dog.
