According to the King County Sheriff around 12:35 on Saturday multiple callers contacted 911 stating someone was riding a bike near SW 100th and 16th Ave SW and they fired a gun shot striking another person. That location is home to the Starbucks and it was closed and an upper window in one of the garage style doors appeared to be broken. A door repair truck was on site to effect repairs but it was unclear if it was related to the shooting.
In an unconfirmed Facebook comment on the incident an eyewittness said "We were in the Starbucks drive through as this happened. I saw the kid limping into a car in front of us on 16th. I hope he’s ok! Starbucks employee said a bullet went through the store."
Deputies arrived didn’t find a victim or suspect.
Later a victim showed up at Highline Medical Center in Burien with a gun shot wound to his leg.
The case will be forwarded to Major Crimes to work.
Violence has been escalating at this location in the past several weeks, and this is in part due to the “Philadelphia Policy” of permitting loitering. Gangs of violent teens have recently set up shop there. Recently a barista was assaulted (punch to the face), a cistomer was robbed of a laptop in the store, fights have broken out, and today a bullet went through the window. Baristas have quit due to anxiety and fear for their lives. It doesn’t seem that Starbucks corporate or the new manager are willing to take the side of the partners risking their safety in the store.
