Pirates land and take over! County gives away key to Captain Kidd!
Captain Kidd of the Seafair Pirates triumphantly holds aloft the key to the City of Seattle that had been held for roughly 90 seconds by Seafair's King Neptune Rich Gray. The pirates landing was attended by several thousand people.

The Seafair Pirates invaded Alki Beach for what they claimed was the 70th year in a row and a big crowd surged out at low tide to greet them as they landed. Once again King County Executive Dow Constantine presented the Key to the County (city?) to King Neptune who was quickly overthrown by popular vote and the key taken by the Pirate's Captain Kidd.
