The fire that destroyed the apartments at 7100 Calfornia Ave. SW on the fourth of July (see our coverage here) truly disrupted the lives of those who lived there. Two of the victims Floreen Nair and her son Nathan lost nearly everything from clothes, to her computer, to household items, to her precious family photograhs. Nair who is from Fiji has been through tough times before and told Westside Seattle that she was just getting back on her feet again when the fire struck. Westside Seattle reached out and helped her set up a GoFundMe page which to date has raised $5,895. If you'd like to help her too, use that link or donate to Floreen Nair at the Bank of America in the West Seattle Junction. Here is her letter.
Hi Everyone!
I just want to say to update everyone for all the generosity and kindness everyone showed me and Nathan.
Without you all it would have been very hard to start a new life after losing everything in the fire on 4th of July.
Now we have a home and we both doing very well.
It's just a beginning to a new road but we both will make it.
I had no idea how wonderful everyone who donated from all over the cities either from North South West and East. We just so happy that we were not ALONE.
I wish I can personally Thank each and everyone. But please don't think we forgot you ALL.
We will never forget and it's going to be part of our entire life.
My goal was to get my son a stable home again and we did it. We are happy and we will never replace what we lost but we will always think of the kindness people showed us.
Once again "Thank you" so much ?♥️?♥️
Never give up on Hope ?♥️?♥️
Be safe and Take Care ?
