Teenager dies of apparent overdose at Safeway on 28th SW

A 15 year old girl was found unconscious on the floor near the restrooms at the Safeway store on 28th SW Tuesday night. She had apparently suffered an overdose after entering the store last night prior to the 11pm closing time.. She could not be revived and died on the scene. Two other girls were with her but fled the scene. When one came back, she was questioned, said she was 17, was searched and was found to be in possession of a bottle of tequila. These facts according to witnesses on the scene.

While store management declined to be quoted or to divulge details, they confirmed these facts.

No word on the identity of the girl who died has been released.

King County Sheriff's office Tim E. Meyer said, "This remains an open active investigation under case C21009179.  What I can confirm is the King County Sheriff’s Office responded to this location on March 23rd at 2337 hours ,,,(11:37pm).  We will defer to the KCME for identification and cause of death.  King County detectives’ work in this case continues."

This young beautiful soul was my daughter Leah. Her death was a horrible unnecessary tragedy.
We would ask for respect and privacy at this horrible time.
She was a such a light and was taken far too soon.

It's very sad that this girl has passed away.

Where was her mother? How did she get these drugs? How do you let your 15 year old do drugs, drink and then die... Like West cost parents need to be a lot better and be less free with their children.

For those asking “where was her mother”, her mother was trying her best. She was trying to get her help. I pray nobody has to feel this pain, and add being shamed by strangers who don’t know the full story.

Do not judge her mother..... Leah was a beautiful sweet girl and a friend of my son's. Drugs are everywhere... if they want them, they will find them. Unless you have a troubled youth, you have no idea what it is like; everyday is a struggle.... Every night, you pray for your kid to come safe and know you may get that dreaded phone call.

Pray you never have to bury your child.

For those of you that know the drug dealer pushing the fentanyl laced drugs, please turn him in!!!! BEFORE he kills another one of your friends.

I am soooooooo sorry for the loss of your daughter. I didn't know her, but I have a beautiful daughter and I'm so grateful she made it thru school and finally graduated. Kids these days need more help and support. My daughter now has a daughter of her own and I pray that my daughter stays on her as I did mine. I pray for your healing and deep heart ache.
