Strong run-scoring action by the Renton 8-10 age Little League baseball All-Stars broke open a close game to win a morning first round game of the 2018 District VII tournament.
Leading only 2-1 after two innings at the PAC West fields on Sat., June 23, Renton proceed to blow the game open with five hits in a four-run third inning.
Dane Peterson doubled to lead off the PW fourth ahead of an Aidan Davis slicing RBI single to right field. Davis was able to connect with an inside-to outside swing on the pitch, but for Pac West it was like answering artillery bombardments with BB guns.
Eleven batters went to the plate in a six-run bottom of the fourth inning to close out a 12-2 win on the 10-run mercy rule.
In the first inning, the Renton All-stars eked out a run on an infield single, an infield ground out and Josh Lueck’s RBI base hit.
Davis led off the PW second inning with a walk and advanced to third base later by way of wild pitches.
When the Renton catcher tried to throw out an advancing Davis at third base, the ball sailed over the third baseman’s head to score Davis.
After Renton returned fire with a single score in its second inning at bat, fortunes unraveled for PAC West.
A decisive win - but I dont think 'Ruin' is an accurate or appropriate description of an 8-10 year old team or game. Missing the point.
