July 30th was a very special day for local business owner and entrepreneur Jerrod Sessler as he celebrated the grand opening of Hot Feet Fitness in Olde Burien. The grand opening was a wonderful community celebration as members, and residents alike gathered to welcome Hot Feet Fitness and their staff. Jerrod and his wife Nikki together with their children, Gabe, Farrell and Jake have been hard at work renovating their location at 816 SW 152nd St for months and were happy to welcome everyone to their beautiful new space. The event was supremely catered by Lavish Roots Catering www.lavishroots.com who will be having their grand opening celebration in Olde Burien soon as well.
The Sessler family and Hot Feet Fitness staff were on hand at the celebration to welcome everyone. “We are super excited about the opening of the new studio.” offered Nikki, “We created this fitness style to provide a safe and diverse exercise option that generates results even with a tight schedule. We brought it to this community because this is our community and we want it for you and for us. We are excited to officially open today” Jerrod said welcoming everyone to the studio.
Everyone at the grand opening had one question: “So, what is Hot Feet Fitness?” Simply put, Hot Feet Fitness is a locally owned fitness studio that offer three unique fitness methods to help you get in shape and stay in shape. The first method is the HFF Workout, a high intensity 21 minute long body weight work out that is doable for any size or shape as you go at your own pace under the leadership of a skilled trainer. The second is HFF Stretch an enjoyable full body stretch following one of the documented routines to loosen things up. The third class type offered is HFF Yoga, a 51 minute long yoga experience. Each method is practiced in a warm studio that is 85 - 90 degrees with 35% - 40% humidity. Some stretch routines can also be done at room temperature.
The heat is helpful in allowing the body to perform at a deeper level safely, minimizing risk of injury by increasing elasticity of the muscles, ligaments and tendons, allowing greater flexibility with a lower risk of injury. The heat also facilitates sweating, detoxifying through the pores and skin – the body’s largest eliminating organ. Heat increases cardiovascular activity. The intensity of the heat deepens the need for concentration and focus, strengthening willpower and self-control. The duration allows all of us to get some great movement into our days while also fitting into a busy schedule.
I had the opportunity to take the HFF Workout personally from Hot Feet Fitness instructor Ben Fader. The class was well attended at 6:30 in the morning, but I still had plenty of room in the beautiful new studio for my yoga mat, towel and bottle of ice water. The studio was warm, but not stifling as I was expecting. There was constant air flow that actually made the temperature pleasant. The workout was intense at times, but the instructor was well tuned into the class and offered adjustments and modifications for my skill level and others as well. I know I’m looking forward to trying the other classes. Hot Feet Fitness is offering a 7 day free trial membership so that those new to the Hot Feet method can try all the classes before committing to a membership.
