The property owner of a house on Kenyon Street in South Park was burglarized while trying to rent the property. On Sunday, July 17 shortly after 4 p.m. the female property owner/victim was approached by a man and woman who asked to see the house because they were interested in renting. The female was described to police as being white, 5’4”, brownish hair, black clothes and “orange stain around her mouth from Spaghetti-O’s she was eating out of the can.” The male was described as white, 6’2”, brown hair, wearing black with a “slight stutter that appeared to be due to drug use.” As the victim began the house tour she noticed the male had slipped away. The female suspect “kept asking random questions about things” in an attempt to keep her attention. Finally, the victim asked where the man was and the female, without a word, walked away on foot. As she walked outside, the victim saw the male running from her office trailer nearby with her laptop. It was a tricky plan … with one exception. The victim knew the suspects and told police where they currently reside and that they spend most of their time scrapping metal at scrap yards. Police went to the suspect location and knocked on the trailer door to no answer.
In a random act of violence, a cab driver sitting in his vehicle at the corner of Fauntleroy and Alaska on July 14 around 4 a.m. was struck in the face with a rock thrown into his window by an unknown suspect. The victim had significant swelling and believed he was temporarily knocked unconscious in the attack. Firefighters at the station near the intersection did not see the assault but did see and hear two males in their 30s with dark hair, white tank tops and jean shorts nearby. Police were unable to find the potential suspects.
Two men were stabbed in an aggravated assault on the 1300 block of California Ave SW on July 17 around 11:30 p.m. The victims were walking down the street when three Hispanic males approached and accused them of being cops. A suspect struck one of the men in the chest in what he felt was a punch, but looking down he realized he had been stabbed. Meanwhile, the second victim had been stabbed in the back between his shoulder blades by a second suspect who then displayed a silver handgun. The suspects fled while the victims called 911. The victims were taken to Harborview, underwent successful surgery and recovered from their injuries. Two teenage witnesses at the scene told police they overheard the argument and observed a black Escalade SUV with 22” chrome wheels leave the scene in a hurry. A second witness said she saw a periwinkle-colored SUV leave the scene.
