Mon, 11/21/2011
On Saturday, Nov. 19, art lovers filled a crowded Burien Community Center for the Burien Arts fourth annual 20/20 Vision art party and sale.
Participants staked out claims next to works they wanted from twenty artists who had each created twenty works of original art in a variety of styles and media.
On a signal at 7:30 p.m. they grabbed their favorites. Many art enthusiasts took several. The 400 pieces sold for $40 each with proceeds benefiting Burien Arts.
In addition to the art sale, this year’s event also showcased larger works by the same artists in a silent art auction. 20/20 Vision offered a festive and fun atmosphere with music, food, wine and community.
20/20 Vision 2011 highlighted the work of two stellar “featured artists,” Margaret Davidson and Walker Hall, along with a bevy of talented emerging artists from the Burien and greater Puget Sound region.
This year’s roster of featured artists included Kelda Martensen, Garreth Schuh, Jesse Link, Theresa Neinas, John Unbehend, Kim Bly, Eric Edward, Pamela Durga Robinson, Lory Newsome, Jack Strubbe, Alida Schuh, Tamara Stephas, Aron Hart, Jerome Damey, Mari Jalbing, Mica Still, Jo Moinz, Jason Greene, Courtney Estevenin, Amanda Knoop, Teneya Sims and members of the Georgetown Atelier and more.
John Unbehend, member of the Burien Arts’ Board of Trustees says, “Burien Arts is one of the South Sound's oldest and most diverse 'grassroots' arts organizations. The 20/20 Show gives the community an opportunity to view and purchase affordable artwork from wonderful Seattle area artists.
“The money raised is split evenly between the artists and Burien Arts. This supports our mission to make quality, affordable and fun visual and performing arts experiences accessible to the Burien / Highline community.”
Burien Arts is a more than forty-year-old non-profit dedicated to providing affordable and innovative arts opportunities to the Burien/Highline community. Burien Arts produces the Highline Classic Jazz Festival, manages a summer performing arts series and offers an annual juried exhibition.
