Former Interim Police Chief of Normandy Park Chris Gaddis announced on the Normandy Park Police Chief Facebook page that he is now officially the Chief:
"As of today (Sept. 1) I have officially taken over as the Chief of Police for the City of Normandy Park. I would like to thank the City Manager and the City Council for this appointment. I must also thank my officers and civilian staff for the support they have shown during this process. Most of all I need to thank my family who have stood by my side and have understood the trying times Normandy Park is going through. Without strong support from family, friends and community this would be an impossible undertaking.
"I look forward to a long career with Normandy Park and together we can continue to have one of the safest cities and the best police department."
Chris Gaddis #108
Chief of Police
In an interview with Highline Times March 29 during the open house when then Chief Rick Kieffer retired, Chief Gaddis said, "I was born in Port Orchard, and attended school in Ellensburg. I came here and was tested. Rick (Kieffer) hired me. He promoted me to sergeant and got me my K-9, Skyler. I worked with him for nine years. We had to put him down last September. Rick promoted me to assistant chief. For the last 13 years he has been mentoring me and showing me the ropes (...) He's steered me in the right direction and really opened up my eyes to the benefit of being involved in city functions and really getting out into the community and realizing that the community is truly your boss and if you don't understand that you're not going to be long for the law enforcement world, especially in Normandy Park."
The Highline Times congratulates Chief Gaddis and wishes him well.
