The combined Seattle Christian School and Life Christian of Tacoma team opened its season on a losing note in a high-scoring game played Thursday, Aug. 30 at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood.
Ross Hjelseth, who has coached Life Christian for 19 years, is the coach of the joint squad. He led the combined team to a 5-4 record and a fifth place Nisqually League finish last year.
SCS/Life Christian visits Charles Wright of Tacoma for a 7 p.m. game Friday, Sept. 14.

Apryl Eneliko had six kills and Sydney Beach five for the Lancers. Shayne McPherson recorded five aces.

Both teams had to forfeit their No. 3 doubles match because of a shortage of players, with Highline prevailing in a six-game affair instead of seven.
"Now we're just fighting to get the kids eligible," said Highline head coach Scott Babcock. "That's why we have the hole in the middle of the lineup."
Brandon Terlow and Austin Allen of Highline won No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 7-6 (6-4) over Kyle Kennedy and Anthony Chu and the Tyee duo of Jimmy Padua and Alex Mullin won No. 2 doubles, 7-6, (7-5), 6-1, over Elliott Newsome and Quang Lam.
Aaron Lyons of Highline was a 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 No. 1 singles winner over Kevin Huynh , with Justin Kemp of Highline winning No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-4, over Brook Nesussie. Tyee's Martin Obrero was a 6-3, 7-5 (10-5) No. 3 singles winner over Navath Nhan and Highline's Luke Field won by default in No. 4 singles.
