Boo in Burien scares up spooktacular family fun

Boo in Burien will scare up more Halloween family fun than the Addams Family Saturday, Oct. 27 from noon to 4 p.m.
The event, presented by the Discover Burien Association and brought to you by Bravo Dental and Prudential Northwest Realty Associates, is packed with spook-tacular entertainment ranging from pumpkin bowling to trick-or-treating to wiener dog races.
New this year, capture the little ghouls forever in free photos from noon to 4 p.m. at Keller Williams Realty, 455 S.W. 152nd St. Photos are courtesy of Keller Williams Realty in partnership with The Residences at Burien Town Square.
Youthful spirits can trick-or-treat for goodies at businesses marked with an orange Boo in Burien sign from noon until the treats run out. Some shops will also offer out-of-this-world specials.
A Children’s Costume Parade in Olde Burien at 3 p.m. gives the little monsters a chance to strut their Halloween best. The parade starts at Southwest 152nd Street and Ninth Avenue Southwest in Olde Burien and will travel down the sidewalks of 152nd to Town Square Park at Fifth Place Southwest.
Get the family hound into the action with two competitions for prizes: the Costume Dog Parade and, for dachshunds, the Wiener Dog Race. The parade kicks off at 3:15 p.m., moving along the sidewalks of Southwest 152nd Street from Ninth Avenue Southwest in Olde Burien to Town Square Park. At 4 p.m., dachshunds will wriggle their way across the finish line in Town Square Park.
Dog parade and race participants get a doggie bag of goodies courtesy of A Place for Pets. Register for the canine events between noon and 3 p.m. for a suggested donation of $2 per event.
The versatility of pumpkins is on display in two activities: pumpkin painting and bowling. Turn a pumpkin into a work of art at Grocery Outlet, 236 S.W. 152nd St., from 1 p.m. until the gourds are gone. Or see how well a pumpkin rolls at Elliott Bay Brewhouse & Pub, 255 S.W. 152nd St., from 1 to 2 p.m.
Kids can further explore their artistic side with Halloween crafts at Collins Chiropractic, 619 S.W. 152nd St.
The haunted house at Moss Chiropractic, 612 S.W. 152nd St., aims to terrify from noon to 3 p.m. Backed by 18 years of scarifying experience, the haunted house steers clear of blood but is definitely not suitable for children ages 5 and younger, including babies.
Halloween storytelling is featured at two locations: from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at the King County Library, 400 S.W. 152nd, and then from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. by Burien Little Theatre actors at Burien Books, 824 S.W. 152nd.
The event centers on Southwest 152nd Street in downtown Burien. Free hayrides along 152nd Street from noon to 3:30 p.m., courtesy of Discover Burien, take a load off tired hobgoblin feet.
