Another open house scout?
On Nov. 15 a TV was stolen from a vacant home on 45th Ave S.W. and the real estate agent listing the home suspected two women who attended a recent open house event. Ten days later, a home for sale on the 1000 block of California Ln. S.W. was ransacked as well, and the real estate agent told police she recalled a “recent lookie-loo” (white male in his thirties with dark hair, driving a maroon Acura) she showed the house to who gave her “the creeps.” A window was used to access the home and the agent wondered if someone might have unlocked the window during a showing.
Late night restaurant burglary
Two hours after closing time on Nov. 24, the owner of a restaurant on the 4700 block of California Ave S.W. received a call from his alarm company that the warning system had gone off. The owner arrived before police and saw a brown Dodge four-door sedan leaving the alley in a hurry after a six-foot tall man ran to the vehicle and hopped inside. The owner followed the vehicle as it tore through the alley, turned left on S.W. Edmunds St., and then northbound onto California Ave.. The vehicle reached an estimated 60 miles per hour as the owner followed, and then slowed down and pulled into a gas station on the 3900 block of S.W. Alaska St. The owner pulled over and got the license plate number, then returned to his restaurant to meet up with police. It appeared the suspects broke in through a side door and stole cash from tills and bottles of cognac and vodka from the bar. Police continue to investigate.
Ukulele turned weapon
On Nov. 28 a white male and white female in their early 20’s walked into a gas station near the corner of Delridge Way S.W. and S.W. Myrtle St. with plans to heist a six-pack of Olde English malt liquor. A store employee saw the theft in progress and told the suspects to put the beer back, followed by a threat to call police. The male suspect hit the clerk over the head with a ukulele (small guitar-like instrument), shattering it and seriously cutting the victim. The suspects fled the scene and the victim was taken to Highline Hospital for treatment. Police are still looking for the suspects and encourage tipsters to call the Seattle Police Robbery Unit at (206) 684-5540 with any information on the case.
