Boo in Burien unleashes family friendly fun Saturday, Oct. 26

Unleash the little monsters—even the family pooch--on more than four hours of family friendly Halloween fun at Boo in Burien Saturday, Oct. 26.
From noon to 4:30 p.m., downtown Burien will be haunted by unearthly activities ranging from wiener dog races to pumpkin bowling to trick-or-treating. The event is presented by the Discover Burien Association together with primary event sponsors BECU, Bravo Dental and Prudential Northwest Realty Associates/Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.
Young ghosts and goblins in training can test their spooky skills while trick-or-treating at businesses marked with an orange Boo in Burien sign. Trick-or-treating starts at noon and ends when the candy runs out—so start early! Some of the shops will also offer out-of-this-world store specials.
Give the family hound a howling good time in two competitions for prizes: the Costume Dog Parade and, for dachshunds, the Wiener Dog Race. The parade kicks off at 3:30 p.m., in Burien Town Square Park, Southwest 152nd Street and Fifth Place Southwest. At 4 p.m., dachshunds will wriggle their way across the finish line in Burien Town Square Park.
Participants in the canine events need to register between noon and 3:30 p.m. in Burien Town Square Park. The suggested donation is $2 per event. Thanks to A Place for Pets, dog parade and race participants will receive a doggie bag of goodies.
Playing with pumpkins is slated for two different locations. Make art out of pumpkins at Grocery Outlet, 236 S.W. 152nd St., from 1 p.m. until the gourds are gone. Or check out the physics of bowling with pumpkins at Elliott Bay Brewhouse & Pub, 255 S.W. 152nd St., from 1 to 2 p.m.
Youthful hobgoblins can try their hand at Halloween crafts from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Collins Chiropractic, 619 S.W. 152nd St.
Raise some goose bumps at the haunted house at Moss Chiropractic, 612 S.W. 152nd St., from 1 to 4 p.m. While the Moss haunted house, a longtime Burien tradition, avoids blood, it is not recommended for children ages 5 and younger, including babies.
Take a break with Happy Pumpkins Story Time at two locations: 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the King County Library, 400 S.W. 152nd, and from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. by Burien Actors Theatre at Burien Books, 824 S.W. 152nd.
The event centers on Southwest 152nd Street in downtown Burien. Free hayrides along 152nd Street from noon to 4 p.m., courtesy of Discover Burien, take a load off tired spectral feet.
Jim Coleman, DDS is sponsoring the Wiener Dog Races and the Costume Dog Parade. Other activity sponsors include Burien Books, Burien Actors Theatre, Collins Chiropractic, Elliott Bay Brewhouse & Pub, Grocery Outlet, Hi-Line Lanes, King County Library, Moss Chiropractic and A Place for Pets.
