West Seattle Veterans Center hosting Seattle bands in benefit show
Mon, 11/04/2013
The West Seattle Veteran Center (WSVC), will host local Seattle bands Rainier Dust Squad and Hetch Hetchy at the Center's Pershing Hall November 9th raising awareness and money for the American Legion Building Post 160 renovation project.
Ticket sales for the concert will go toward the renovation of the American Legion Building. The recent renovation of venue Pershing Hall, located in the American Legion Building, is Phase I of a total transformation of the building. Pershing Hall is a venue for corporate and private party rental, receptions, monthly concerts, community outreach, rotating art exhibitions and other events.
The remaining renovation phases for the American Legion Building include completion of a catering kitchen, operational bistro and lounge and rentable state of the art conference room. In order to fund the remaining renovation projects, the American Legion is accepting tax deductible donations, but is also raising funds by hosting concerts, rentals and other events. Once completed, the WSVC will operate in the American Legion Building seven days a week with Veteran staffers to aid and counsel Veterans in the greater Seattle community. The WSVC will offer a wide range of assistance including GI Bill, VA home loan counseling, disability qualifications, family needs and medical referrals. Lack of funding has held up the next renovation phases planned for the project, but the goal is to complete the project by the end of the year so it can be totally operational by 2014.
