West Seattle Garden Tour Poster Art contest accepting entries

The West Seattle Garden Tour (WSGT) has announced that entries are now being accepted for the poster art that will serve as the signature graphic element for the 2014 Tour set for July 20, 2014. The tour is a fun, family-friendly event that has been an annual tradition since 1995. As an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, the WSGT is proud to donate all net proceeds to support Seattle-based community gardens and other non-profits that promote horticulture, education and the arts. Entry deadline is Saturday, March 8, 2014
Prize: $500.00 for the winner

Additional recognition
The top ten selected works will be exhibited during the West Seattle Art Walk on June 19, 2014. Space permitting, we will display as many additional entries as can be accommodated.
Theme
Artwork content should be an interpretation of the WSGT’s theme “The Art of Gardening” focusing on color, design and texture in the garden. The design should be able to accommodate text, but you should NOT include the title text on your artwork.
Types of work
We will accept Original artwork in any medium. Your work must be ready to hang, framed if necessary (no sawtooth hangers), with a minimum size of 8 x 12 inches and a maximum size of 30 x 46 (our printed poster is usually 11 x 17).
Your design must have been completed within the last five years. It must be original and creative, and it must not have been previously published or reproduced.
Computer clip art, pictures copied from magazines, and other copyrighted images will not be accepted.
Number of submissions
We will accept a maximum of two submissions per artist.

between noon and 4:00 pm on either Friday, March 7 or Saturday, March 8, 2014.
All submissions must include a signed Entry Form (see link above).
The applicant’s name, phone and email information must be included on the back of the submission (please do not staple). If you wish to include a small biography, you may do so.
Care of work:
The utmost care will be taken while your art is in our possession, but the WSGT cannot accept liability for damage or loss of any artwork, for any cause, while it is in our possession.
Use of image:
The winning artwork becomes the property of the WSGT and includes the right to copy for use, without limitation, on the following: posters, postcards, ticket booklet cover, invitations, t-shirts and website.
The WSGT reserves the right to modify the winning design in accordance with the printing requirements.
Award:
Entries will be evaluated based on the contest theme by active members of the 2013 WSGT. The winning artist and showcase show artists will be notified on or before March 19, 2014.

Works not claimed by the artist will become the property of the WSGT.
Disclaimer:
The artist, by submitting an application, agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the WSGT from and against any and all claims, demands or expenses (including attorney fees) for libel, slander, invasion of privacy, infringement of copyright, personal injury, damages, or any other claims, demands or expenses resulting from the artists performance in connection with this agreement.
Restrictions:
2013-2014 WSGT committee members and their family members are not eligible to enter the contest.
