White Center Heights Elementary kindergartners and first graders working on their community helpers module in class got a very special set of visitors March 13th when a Fire Engine from North Highline Fire District, an ambulance from American Medical Response, MJ Olmstead from the King County Sheriffs Office, and King County Sheriff's Guardian1 helicopter all came to share what they do with the students.

Approximately 85 students took advantage of the sunny weather to come outside and greet their visitors.

They had a chance to clamber through the helicopter, fire engine and ambulance sit in the seats, and ask the officers, pilot and drivers questions about what they do.

Organizer David Sonsteng said, "Every year the kindergartners do a module on community helpers. As part of that module we try and get the different agencies to bring their apparatus and talk to the kids about what they do. Last year was my first year at the school, and the agencies all came on different days. Late last year Guardian1 landed at Boulevard Park Elementary, which is what gave me the idea to ask them to land at our school. Since they said yes, we decided that we should try and get all the agencies on the same day and make an event out of it. There were about 150 students that participated."

The King County Sheriff’s Air Support Unit is the only full-time rotary-wing law enforcement aviation unit in Washington State.

The Air Support Unit operates six days per week. The King County Sheriff operates one Bell 206B3 helicopter and other aircraft.
