Page 2 Books Grand Re-Opening
Thu, 04/03/2014
BURIEN, Wash. – Page 2 Books, known as a great place for books and the people who love to read them, will celebrate its grand reopening in downtown Burien with a full calendar of special events and activities during April.
Page 2 Books moved last November to 457 SW 152nd St., at the corner of Sixth Avenue, following the purchase of the business by Jenny Cole and Bill Virgin.
“We’ve been working since November to create a place that customers look forward to coming to,” said Jenny Cole. “We appreciate the encouragement – and patience – of our customers who have welcomed us and shopped with us, even as we were unpacking boxes of books and building shelves.
“Now that we have the store looking like it should, it’s time to say thanks to our customers and friends, old and new, and invite them in to find the right book.”
Activities for the month will include:
■ A grand-reopening reception at noon Saturday April 12. Come meet the new owners (if you haven’t already) and enjoy light refreshments.
■ A 20 percent discount on all purchases.
■ With every purchase of $10 or more, take your pick from our basket of Page 2 swag, including license plate frames and back massagers.
■ Enter your name for a drawing to win an author-signed copy of a book (drawing to take place at the end of the month).
All this is in addition to a full slate of regular activities at Page 2 Books, including:
■ Three local-author events: Mark Bullard, author of “Pillows for Your Prison Cell,” at 2 p.m. Saturday April 5; Franklyn Thomas, author of “The Favorite,” 1 p.m. Saturday April 12; and Dan Purkey, author of “Uncommon Sense Management” and “Trackers,” 2:30 p.m. Saturday April 19th.
■ The store will stay open until 9 p.m. for the Burien Arts Walk, Thursday April 3.
■ Children’s story time, at 10:15 a.m. Saturday April 5 and April 19.
■ The monthly Page 2 book discussion group, a great opportunity to swap suggestions for your next great read, 6-8 p.m. Thursday April 10.
■ The month-long display of works by a local artist. The featured artist for April is Harry Langen, who uses pastels to create beautiful landscape images.
■ A wide selection of book covers, book bags, games, puzzles and note and greeting cards.
“We’re looking forward to relaunching a store that has been a part of the community for so many years, and connecting readers with books they’ll enjoy reading or giving to others,” said Jenny Cole. “We invite people in to check out what the new store looks like. We think they’ll like it.”
