Barton Pump Station September construction update
Wed, 10/01/2014
information from King County
As construction progresses, King County will continue to provide monthly project updates to keep the community informed. King County will notify the community and ferry commuters should any ferry lane closures or work requiring additional notification occur.
Previous work
Work over the past month continued to focus on installation of underground equipment – fuel lines, pipes, ducts, and conduits.
Upcoming activity
Over the next month, you’ll see continued installation of underground equipment. The crew will be connecting the new pieces to each other and to the wiring. The new pump station is expected to be started up and tested this fall. Because of the tight work space, site restoration, landscaping and artwork installation will occur early next year, after the pump station is operational.
What to expect
· Work hours typically 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
· Flagger to move traffic through site and in and out of ferry terminal entrance.
· Heavy equipment on site.
· Noise and dust typical of a construction site.
· Ferry lane entrance closures expected late this fall when restoration of the curb and sidewalk take place. King County will notify commuters and residents in advance of that work.
· The new pump station is expected to be up and running by year’s end. Landscaping and artwork installation will follow in early 2015.
· Cove Park will reopen to public access when all work is complete, expected by late spring 2015.
