Sports events worth keeping an eye on
For the week of Nov. 5-11

Football
Mount Rainier hosts Rogers for its season finale at 7 p.m. Thursday at Highline Memorial.
Kennedy Catholic and Foster will both see playoff action on the road Friday.
The Lancers pay a visit to Oak Harbor for a 7 p.m. game and the Bulldogs of Foster go to Silverdale to play Olympic at 7:15 p.m.
Evergreen visits Ingraham for a 7 p.m. finale Friday.
Chief Sealth is at home at the Southwest Athletic Complex playing White River at 7 p.m. Friday, then West Seattle will use the SWAC field to play Highline at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Girls soccer
Kennedy Catholic opens district action Thursday, paying a 5 p.m. visit to the Greater St. Helens League champions at the Kiggins Bowl.
If JFK wins it plays for the West Central District/Southwest Washington championship at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Chevrolet Stadium in Sumner and a loss would drop the Lancers into a 12 p.m. game for the No. 2 and No. 5 berths to state.
Highline, meanwhile, plays a 5:30 p.m. loser-out match against Olympic League No. 3 at Franklin Pierce on Thursday, with the winner playing again at 12 p.m. Saturday.
Volleyball
Kennedy Catholic is playing in the 3A West Central District tournament to be held at Auburn-Mountainview.
The Lancers open at 3:30 p.m. Friday against the GSHL No. 3 team, then win or lose will play again at 7 p.m.
The tournament continues Saturday.
Evergreen and Foster are both playing in the 2A WCD tournament at Washington High School in Parkland.
Evergreen opens at 3:30 p.m. against Kingco No. 2 and plays again at 7 p.m., while Foster opens against South Puget Sound League No. 3 at 5:15 p.m. and plays again at 8:45 p.m.
Highline is involved in the other portion of the 2A tournament at Franklin Pierce, opening against Kingco No. 1 at 3:30 p.m.
The Pirates' second match will be at 7 p.m.
Franklin Pierce will host all 2A matches Saturday.
Girls swimming
Both the 2A and 3A West Central District meets will be held at Hazen High School in Renton this weekend.
The 2A preliminaries are at 10 a.m. Friday and the finals at 12 p.m. Saturday, with the 3A preliminaries at 6 p.m. Friday and finals at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Sea-King action is being held at the Mary Wayte Pool on Mercer Island with preliminaries at 5 p.m. Friday and finals at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Cross country
State championship races in all classifications are being held at the Sun Willows course in Pasco on Saturday.
Pros and colleges
Seahawks
Seattle hosts the New York Giants for a 1:25 p.m. game at CenturyLink Field on Sunday that will be carried on Channel 13 TV.
Sounders
Seattle will be at CenturyLink on Monday playing FC Dallas in a 7:30 p.m. playoff on NBC Sports.
Thunderbirds
The Kent-based Seattle hockey team is on the road this week starting with a 5 p.m. visit to Prince Albert on Saturday.
Huskies
The University of Washington football team hosts UCLA for 4 p.m. action on Fox Sports 1 this coming Saturday.
Husky men's basketball opens at home against St. Martin's at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the Pac-12 network and the women open at home in a 7 p.m. Wednesday exhibition game against Concordia.
Cougars
Washington State University visits Oregon State for a 1 p.m. game Saturday on the Pac-12 network.
