High schools
Girls soccer
Highline and Seattle Christian are both playing home matches to open state tournament play on Tuesday of this week.
Highline hosts Black Hills for 7 p.m. action at Highline Memorial and the Warriors will play Overlake at 6 p.m. at French Field in Kent.
A win would advance either team into state quarterfinal action this weekend.
Football
Kennedy Catholic of Burien and Seattle Lutheran of West Seattle are both playing opening round state playoff games at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Lancers are on the road at Bellevue as the Saints travel to Pacific County to play Naselle.
Volleyball
Kennedy Catholic also made the state tournament in volleyball and will be playing this weekend at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.
The Lancers open with an 8 a.m. match against Stanwood and play again at 5 p.m. if they win or 3:15 p.m. if they lose.
The tournament lasts through Saturday.
Girls swimming
The King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way is hosting the state meet in all classifications Friday and Saturday.
Class 2A preliminaries start at 9:45 a.m. Friday, followed by the 3A preliminaries at 2 p.m. and the 4A preliminaries at 6:30 p.m.
Finals are Saturday, with the 2A starting at 9:30 a.m., the 3A at 2:15 p.m. and the 4A at 7 p.m.
Pros
Seahawks
Seattle hosts the Arizona Cardinals for a key National Football Conference West Division game at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at CenturyLink Field.
The action can be seen on Channel 5 TV and heard on 710 AM.
Thunderbirds
Seattle will hop on a ferry to Victoria for a two-game Western Hockey League series against the Cougars this weekend.
The Thunderbirds play there at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday before coming home to Showare Center in Kent to play Swift Current at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
Stars
Tacoma's professional indoor soccer team is in California playing Turlock at 7:05 p.m. Friday before dropping in on the Sacramento Surge at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
The Stars also play home games at Showare Center, with the next at 7:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 against Soles De Sonora.
Husky football
The University of Washington visits Arizona State for an 11 a.m. game Saturday that can be seen on the Pac-12 cable network.
Cougar football
The high-flying Washington State University team goes to UCLA for 7:45 p.m. action Saturday on ESPN.
Husky men's hoop
Washington plays Texas at 7 p.m. Friday in Shanghai, China on ESPN.
Cougar men's hoop
WSU is in Pullman playing Northern Arizona at 5:30 p.m. Friday on the Pac-12 network.
Husky women's hoop
Santa Clara visits the Huskies for a 2 p.m. game Saturday.
Cougar women's hoop
The Cougars host UC Santa Barbara for an 8:30 p.m. game Friday before entertaining Hampton at 7 p.m. Monday.
Redhawks men's hoop
Seattle University hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7:30 p.m. Friday and acramento State at 2 p.m. Sunday before visiting Eastern Washington at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday.
Redhawks women's hoop
Seattle plays Montana State at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the KeyArena before visiting Montana at 12 p.m. Sunday.
Bulldogs men's hoop
Gonzaga plays Pittsburgh at 4 p.m. Friday in Okinawa on ESPN.
Bulldogs women's hoop
Air Force visits Gonzaga for a 6 p.m. women's game in Spokane on Friday before Stanford drops in at 1 p.m. Sunday.
