Two men shot in massive fight on Alki Ave

Gang Unit detectives are investigating a shooting in West Seattle. One witness called 911 around 2:15 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19 -- reporting that a group of about 40 people were fighting near 59 Ave. SW and Alki Ave SW. Another caller said that two or three people had guns and shots were being fired. Officers arrived on the scene but did not find any victims.  

The police later learned that two men drove to Harborview Medical Center at 2:30 am and checked themselves in for gunshot wounds. One man had been shot in the lower back and the other in the arm. Gang Unit detectives who spoke with both victims, who had been shot at the fight along Alki.

Detectives think that the victims may have known their attackers. Detectives are continuing to investigate and ask that anyone with any information in this case call the violent crime tip line at 206-233-5000.

Aggressive dog-walker on Delridge Way SW

At 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, police were dispatched to a report of an assault. Officers arrived at the victims’ home on the 5900 block of Delridge Way SW and learned that the suspect was a white male, between 50 to 60 years old, 6'1" and 230 lbs. with grey hair. The man was walking a small brown dog and a small black dog on leashes and approached the victims, who moved away because they were afraid of the animals.

They said the man asked them why they didn’t like his dogs and told them “I don't like your color.” He then wrapped the leashes around each victim and told the dogs to bite. Neither dog bit the victims and then the suspect walked away.

Robber leaves storage shed empty handed

At 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, police followed up on a report of an attempted burglary of a shed located on 6700 block of 21 Ave SW. The owner of the property was a man who had a stroke last September and now resides in a nursing home. The son keeps an eye on the home and stops by regularly to check on it. The shed was used to store bicycles. Someone had tried to pry open the door but had not been successful and left the inside untouched. The victim said that nothing else on the property looked like it had been disturbed.

Unlocked vehicle and shed raided

Officers arrived to the 8600 block of Fauntleroy Way around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11 SW to investigate a burglary. The victim said a suspect had stolen items from her vehicle and from a shed on her property. Both had been unlocked. There was no evidence on the scene for police to investigate. The woman said she was missing her sunglasses, cell phone and a drill set.
