The dream of many guys is to own a bar, and for many women a gift shop is a goal. Either of those businesses take luck, and a lot of hard work, but it helps to have a good idea to set you apart. That's the edge that the Alair Neighborhood Gift shop has.

Owner Shandon Armstrong said, "We have a focus on companies that give back and locally owned businesses. We are constantly changing out inventory so every time you come in there's something new to look at."

A quick stroll through the shop is proof of her statement. With over 1100 different items from books, to clothing, to cards, and decor items there's literally something for almost everybody. Whimsical pillows, bags, drink mixes, lotions, candles, and a lot more all seem to be chosen with both taste and an eye for kindness.

Armstrong who hails from Toledo, Ohio came out to Seattle a few years ago and fell in love with the area, in particular West Seattle. "I love this community," she said.

Alair's hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 6pm, and Sunday 11am to 5pm. Closed Mondays. It is located at the corner of Hinds Street SW and California Ave. SW.
