A male driver rammed a police car with a stolen truck after officers spotted the vehicle and confronted the driver Thursday night. They later tracked it to a Walgreens near White Center but the suspect escaped.
Officers from the Southwest Precinct recognized a truck as stolen as it sat unoccupied in the Home Depot Parking lot just adjacent to the precinct, shortly after 9pm. After waiting for the suspect to return, they saw him, confronted him but not quickly enough to prevent him from getting in the truck and then ramming the police car, plus others cars in the lot as he fled south on Delridge Way SW.
A lo-jack tracking device on the truck allowed them to track the truck which made it only a few blocks south where it blew a tire. Even that didn't stop the suspect however since he continued in the disabled vehicle to the Walgreens parking lot on Delridge Way and 16th SW. and left the vehicle. A police K9 unit was brought in but he got away.
