A fire in a single family residence at 7526 14th SW resulted in heavy smoke damage and a burnt wall and more but everyone got out safely Sunday night shortly after 6pm
The Corbray family was smoking a brisket in an electric smoker in the backyard according to the residents. " I looked outside and the house was on fire," said Brionne Corbray, "I had to come outside and kick the plug out of the wall, the flames were shooting up. We got a fire extinguisher on it but it wasn't enough."
The Fire Department arrived to find the back of the house involved and the flames potentially entering the roof. They used a ladder to get on the roof and chainsaws to vent the by then extremely heavy smoke. The fire was dealt with but the home was full of smoke.
"Everyone got out OK, the family and the animals," Brionne said. Pam Corbray said however, "I don't know where we are going to live."
The Red Cross is helping the family with emergency housing. No damage estimate was available.
