Attempted robbery on Harbor Ave SW
Around 7:15 a.m. Thursday, March 15, a caller from a store located in the 2400 block of Harbor Ave SW informed police about an attempted robbery that happened at 4:30 a.m. He was not present when the incident occurred, but an employee working the register at the time told him what happened. A man and a woman drove into the parking lot in a gray, four-door car. The man came into the store and demanded the cashier’s cell phone and money. Then the woman entered and tried to get the man to leave. The suspect hit the woman, and they began to fight, knocking items off the shelves of the store. Eventually, the couple left. The incident was captured on security camera footage.
Burglar stopped in action
At 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, a woman called police about a burglary that was in-progress at her home, located in the 3200 block of 31 Ave SW. She said a man was trying to get into her house and that she and her husband were on the balcony. When officers arrived, a gold Volkswagon Jetta was parked to obstruct Admiral Way. They located a man matching the suspect description. The windows to the house were streaked in blood. Then, officers located the homeowners. The woman said that she returned home from work and saw the Volkswagon and a man she had never met before. A while later, she heard a loud pounding on her door. Then, the man started to strike her windows. He removed a screen to a window and tried to open it. He walked into the house, up the stairs and to the deck, trying to break a sliding glass door. The suspect said that his vehicle broke down. He said that he heard a child yelling in distress from the victim’s address. He said he broke into the house in an attempt to save the child. The man was booked into King County Jail for investigation of burglary. Officers believe he may have a mental problem based on his statements.
Burglar rummages through parked vehicle, cuts wires
Around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, officers received a call of theft of property out of a truck parked in the 9200 block of Olson Pl SW. The truck was in a secure area, and the suspect entered the premises to commit a crime. The property is owned by a woman, her husband and their business partner. The truck’s side window was broken and multiple items were stolen. The vehicle itself was also damaged. Wires to the battery had been cut. Officers took photos of the damage.
