A ladder truck was in use to reach the 2nd floor window of an apartment where a fire took place early Sunday morning July 8 in West Seattle at 4100 SW Edmunds Street.

Seattle police responded to the 4700 block of 42 Avenue Southwest Sunday at 1 a.m. to assist the Seattle Fire Department with an apartment fire. Fire fighters were able to get the blaze under control and the Fire Marshal began attempting to determine the cause of the fire.
The resident of the apartment returned to the scene and advised the Fire Marshal that he had intentionally set the fire.
Officers took the man into custody and booked him into King County Jail for investigation of arson. Arson Detectives will now work with the Prosecutor’s Office as this case moves forward.

A fire that broke out shortly after 1am in the second floor of the Elan Apartments at 4100 SW Edmunds St first produced light smoke then later needed more attention as it grew was extinguished. A ladder truck was employed to reach the apartment during the fire. Seattle Fire Department investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set and did $120,000 damage. The case has been turned over to the Seattle Police Department for followup and further investigation.
One Seattle Fire Departmen Lieutenant was transported with minor injuries to Harborview. According to Seattle Fire there were no injuries to members of the public.
