The "cash mob" set to infuse a bit of capital into a deserving business or organization will happen today at 2 pm at the Village Green Perennial Nursery 10223 26th Ave. s.w.
The organizers shared a perspective on the event via Facebook plus some logistical information:
"To all of you planning on coming out to West Seattle to support Village Green…thank you. By sharing our time, experiences, and dollars, we are doing more than infusing a locally owned and operated business with cash. We are making a clear statement that we value our small businesses, our community, and ourselves.
The first time I met Vera, I knew there was something special about her. Before learning about her fight for fair banking practices, her dedication to her communities, and her activism, I knew she was a special type of individual.
This weekend, we join forces. This weekend, we make a difference.
Logistics:
* Pleas arrive at Village Green just before 2:00. This way we can enter the nursery in a group and have a large presence.
* While there, try to speak with at least two (2) people you don't already know.

Even if you've never seen a flash mob in person, it's become so well known that any time you see more than one person dancing in public you are likely to start looking around for cameras. But Michael Maine has a better idea. Since social media is the primary vehicle for organizing group efforts like flash mobs the new West Seattle resident (just three weeks) he wants to use it to help people that are socially responsible.
Maine is the man behind www.MnervaLabs.com whose mission is "to promote social change by increasing social awareness and empowering people to be the change they want to see." You can learn more on their Facebook page too.
To that end he is pointing people to a Cash Mob event at the
Village Green Perennial Nursery 10223 26th Ave s.w., Seattle, at 2pm on April 28.
A Cash Mob...like it's more dance oriented cousin, means people agree to gather at one place for a purpose, in this case to spend a suggested $20, in an effort to boost business for a worthy business owner.
Maine met nursery owner Vera Johnson at the Women on a Mission conference in March and was impressed by her efforts to achieve better terms for those facing foreclosure by banks due to the housing bubble collapse.
Maine moved here to be closer to the Bainbridge Graduate Institute which offers MBA's in sustainable systems. He was traveling back and forth once a month for classes and decided he should just move here.
The cash mob is not his original idea. He read about in INC magazine about the trend which Inc. reports, "began popping up in the fall, have spread to nearly 30 cities."
