There are still spots open in the annual Chief Sealth Athletics Golf Tournament, held once again at the beautiful Rainier Golf and Country Club on Friday, June 1st. Your participation not only gives you a great afternoon of golf, food and beverage (all included in the price) but also helps support over 350 student athletes and 40 coaches at Chief Sealth International High School.
The goal of the Chief Sealth Athletics Golf Tournament is to become the prime method of fundraising for our student-athletes. The inaugural event in 2011 raised over $5,000 which went directly toward supporting athletic efforts including transportation, uniforms and equipment, and building quality lower level programs (JV and C-teams).
Please consider hitting the links on Friday, June 1st as a way of showing your support to the school and the student-athletes of both past and present.
In addition to the ongoing costs associated with running a top-notch athletic program, the following are a few specific items that we hope to invest in with the help of this event:
Showcase our history –
During the remodel many of our past championship banners and retired jerseys that were displayed in the gym taken down. Purchasing new banners will help our current student-athletes take pride in and connect with all of our past successes.
A dedicated strength and conditioning coach –
With our new state-of-the-art weight room, our student-athletes and coaches would greatly benefit from the knowledge and time of a certified strength coach that could develop sport-specific programs for our male and female athletes.
Lower level program growth –
With our continued growth many of our programs are now pushing to add a third team. The District does not fund c-team programs, which means that the cost of paying coaches, travelling to games, paying for officials, uniforms and equipment fall back on the school.
Video equipment –
One of the best ways for coaches to teach and players to learn is through watching film. Today, there are a number of services available that allow for video to be uploaded online and accessible to players and coaches on any computer – allowing for kids to watch tape, prepare for upcoming games, develop highlight videos for college recruiting, and more.
Pay-to-play fees –
As discussed in a recent Seattle Times article, the cost of participating in sports continues to increase and that leaves many families to make a difficult decision whether they can afford to participate. Supplementing these fees allows for participation by all.
Tournament fees go to support Sealth Athletics:
$500 per foursome
$150 per individual
