Craigslist sale goes bad
On August 9th a man selling four concert tickets worth $85 each on Craigslist agreed to meet with his “buyers” at a parking lot on the 6400 block of California Ave S.W. He approached the two men in their car and walked up to the passenger side where one man was holding cash in hand. As the victim pulled out the tickets, the suspect sitting shotgun grabbed his arm and the tickets as the driver took off. The victim was “unable to disengage” from the vehicle and was dragged through the parking lot before releasing himself where Beveridge Pl. S.W. and California intersect. The victim only suffered a bruise to his right arm and gave police the phone number he called to contact the suspects.
Looking for a known harasser
Authorities are on the lookout for a suspect listed as a “transient” in police records, wanted for aggravated assault against a woman and harassment of her daughter on Aug. 14. Around 2:30 p.m. that day, the victim and her 15-year-old daughter were walking along the 4100 block of S.W. Alaska St. when the suspect, a male in his 30s, started making inappropriate comments toward the daughter. When his uncomely advances were ignored, he yelled that the girl had an “ugly (expletive) face.” Mom came to her daughter’s defense and told the man to leave them alone. He threw his sunglasses at the mother, striking her in the face. The woman pulled out her phone and said she was calling 911, so the suspect started swatting her hand to prevent the call. He went on to say she better hang up because he was an undercover police officer and, if that wasn’t enough, he said, “I will (expletive) kill you.” When the victim finally got through to emergency services, the man fled northbound on 41st Ave S.W. Police wrote that the suspect, described as a white male, 35, 6 feet tall, last wearing a black and white polo shirt with black sweatpants with white stripes down the side, is known to harass women on Alki Beach and near the Junction.
One man shot, another arrested after drunken melee
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 19, four “very intoxicated” men formed teams of two and got into an argument at the Bamboo Tavern on Alki. The words escalated to fists and ultimately, police said, a gun was pulled out and a victim was shot (luckily in a non-life threatening location). The gunshot victim’s friend had a concussion and possible broken ribs. Police responded to the scene and were able to track down and arrest one of two aggressors involved and recovered a handgun from his person. The victims were taken to Harborview for treatment.
A bitter goodbye to America
Around 7:30 p.m. on August 10, a Japanese exchange student (with one week left in America before heading home) stepped off the bus on the 7900 block of Delridge Way S.W. and was immediately robbed of $90 by a male suspect carrying a can that smelled of alcohol. No weapons were used and no in-depth suspect description was given.
