All that for a Pepsi?
On Dec. 24 someone broke into a home on the 3100 block of S.W. Graham St. through a kitchen window. While an urn containing ashes was moved from a bedroom dresser and a jewelry box was rifled through, nothing appeared to be missing. The only missing item, in fact, was a bottle of Pepsi soda from the refrigerator.
Silenced gun proclaimed in robbery
It was early evening the day after Christmas when a man waiting for a bus at the corner of Delridge Way S.W. and S.W. Thistle St. was approached by an unknown male. The suspect came in very close and told the victim he had a gun, and then asked if he wanted to die. The victim handed over an iPod, cash and a debit card, but the suspect was not done. He said his gun was equipped with a silencer and told the victim to come with him or he would be shot. The victim told police he believed he was being led to at ATM for more cash, but that he was able to step away from the gunman, at which time the suspect ran away eastbound on Thistle. Police arrived with a K-9 unit and set up a containment area in hopes of finding their suspect, but he was long gone. The police report mentioned a distinctive jacket worn by the suspect, but the details on that jacket were redacted from the report.
Gifts stolen from under the tree
On Dec. 24, shortly after 9 p.m., a woman on the 8800 block of 29th Ave S.W. saw two young males running from her neighbor’s home with their arms full of items. They were described as “Pacific Islander, 20’s, long pony tails and wearing long white t-shirts and shorts” in the police report, and hopped into a turquoise Ford Crown Victoria before fleeing the scene. The woman walked next door, saw her neighbor’s front door had been kicked off the hinges, and called police. It appeared the suspects were rushed in their crime, leaving several expensive electronics (clearly in sight) alone, opting instead to steal wrapped gifts from under the Christmas tree. The most expensive gift stolen was a $300 DVD player. A bottle of vodka was moved close to the front door, but left on the ground inside. Police took the bottle for fingerprint analysis.
