Eastridge Church will give away 500 backpacks for the 2nd year and offer a lot of kids activities at the Delridge Community Center, 4501 Delridge Way SW on Saturday, July 20. The event starts at 1pm. The backbacks will be filled with school supplies.
included in the festivities are a kids area and BBQ lunch. Kids can enjoy inflatable games, face painting, a clown and carnival games. All activities are free! BBQ lunch is for purchase.
Eastridge Church Lead Pastor, Steve Jamison, is excited about the opportunity to give away backpacks to Seattle-area children. “Every year our annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway meets a very real need in the West Seattle community, so much so that we added a toy giveaway at Christmas two years ago. We wanted to build on that opportunity to give back to the community, which is why we hosted a backpack giveaway last summer to do something more to help neighborhood families,” he said. “This summer we’re again helping to give kids a jump start to the school year by giving away backpacks loaded with supplies and throwing a fun summer festival event. It’s a tangible way that we can extend a blessing to the families in the community.”
The backpack giveaway and activities are 1-3 pm as supplies last. Onsite registration is required. One backpack per child in 1st-12th grade. Child must be present to receive backpack.
Admission to the Summer Festival is free. Find all the latest info at EastridgeToday.com.
