Burglars caught in the act
A man residing in the 9000 block of 30 Ave SW was fast asleep in the basement of his house, until the sounds of banging on his door woke him up. He went outside and then saw suspects running from his door into an alley to the west of his house. He chased them on foot. The victim noticed that a package had been delivered to his front porch and dropped in the back of his house. The suspects also dropped a stolen bicycle in the alley. They slowed down and were standing around talking near the intersection of 30 Ave SW and SW Henderson St. The victim and a witness confronted the group, and they fled. The man returned home and found that the suspects had tried to kick his door in, remove his doorknob and use a hammer to beat the door down. The man got in his car and located the suspects again. They fled one last time. The victim called 911, but officers were not able to locate the suspects. The crime was reported to police at 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
Attempted burglary at business’ storage shed
Around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, officers received a call about a burglaries storage shed at a business located in the 2600 block of SW Barton St. Security at the store said the lock to the building was broken, but nothing was taken from inside.
Burglarized while away at work
A woman residing in the 1600 block of SW Henderson returned from work to find someone had rummaged through her room, including all of her luggage and purses. She called police around 6:25 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5 to report the crime. She said that jewelry was stolen from some of the bags. Officers were not able to find any fingerprints.
Robbery on 17th Ave SW
Around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4, a man residing in the 9000 block of 17 Ave SW told officers he was robbed by an unknown woman. He said that she took his wallet and a speaker. The wallet contained his driver’s license, debit card and $100. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
