Update Thursday Sept 28

After an FBI involved canine search and an aerial search via helicopter Jim Price, missing since Monday evening Sept. 19, is still nowhere to be found.  The family is nearly out of ideas and it's well past the time when he might have simply survived on his own. They have updated a "search document" that provides some further information and more details. They hope to still have someone come forward with anything they've seen or heard as to his whereabouts.

They are sending a bulk mail postcard out soon with his picture and information to West Seattle residents. If you get one, talk to your neighbors about it.

If you see/think you see Jim, please call 9-1-1 immediately,  stay with him.

Missing since 9/18/23 from West Seattle’s Pigeon Point neighborhood.

Name: James Price - Goes by “Jim”

Age: 86

Wearing: Bright blue jacket, jeans, blue or black shoes, glasses, hearing aid.

Jim is shy and would be hesitant to ask for help.

Physical Characteristics: Grey Hair, leans to the left from a spine injury and has balance problems.

• Have you tracked his Orca card? 

  • Yes, there has been no activity logged since his disappearance.

• Does Jim use a cane? 

  • No.

• Does Jim have a phone/iphone? 

  • No.

• Is it possible he went to visit a family member? 

  • It’s unlikely - Jim had no cash or credit/debit card on him when he left & he hadn’t been in recent contact with any family members outside of Seattle.

• Have you tried looking at past homes/places he liked to visit?

  • Yes

• Is it possible that he would hide/run away from the search volunteers due to his dementia?

  • It’s possible although unlikely he would be able to move quickly enough to avoid being noticed.

Update Tuesday Sept 26

Jim Price remains missing, despite searches of the local area by volunteers. It's now been over a week since he was last seen. The family said today that FBI is now on the case and is conducting a canine search and rescue effort. No volunteer searches are planned at this time.

86 year old Jim Price is still gone. The family has conducted multiple searches of the area since he walked away from his Pigeon Point home on Monday evening, Sept 19 around 7pm.

The puzzling and painful disappearance has grown increasingly frustrating.

According to a family member "The searches yesterday focused on areas closer to the house. There was a tip called in this morning - someone thought they saw him at Lomen Beach Park so we focused on and around that area. 

We still have not had any luck getting assistance from SPD/KCSD with canine/drone search. "

Jim suffers from dementia and hearing loss, but he was not dressed for cold or wet weather.

Jim stands 5' 10", weighs 124 pounds, has gray hair, blue eyes. He wears glasses and has a crooked walk. He was last seen wearing a blue ski jacket with no hood and blue or black jeans.

He has his wallet with ID and an Orca card but no cash or credit cards. Thus far there is no record of him using the Orca card.
