Both hands on the wheel

It's the law now, people.

If you have and use a cell phone while driving, you must use a hands-free cell phone earpiece or you will be subject to a hefty fine if you are caught driving and calling at the same time without it.

For the record, hands-free does not mean that you can let go of the steering wheel.

Harmonica Man delights Federal Way students

In July, it's tough attending a year-round school. It seems like the rest of the world is outside playing, going on vacation and in general, having a better time than you.

Never mind all that time you had off when all the other Federal Way Schools were in session. That's in the past and long forgotten.

But then the Harmonica Man comes to Sunnycrest, and holds an assembly where every single student gets their own harmonica to keep. Then life is good again.

Parks levies placed on Aug. ballot

The King County Council has approved placing two six-year park levies on the Aug. 21 primary ballot.

One measure would maintain King County's regional parks system. The other would expand and complete the regional trails system, and support the Woodland Park Zoo.

Each measure would assess a levy of 5 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation, or $20 a year for the owner of a $400,000 home.
