Keith Bugher

Keith was born May 27, 1960 in Port Angeles to Clyde and Helen Bugher. He grew up in Port Angeles and attended Peninsula College and Clover Park College in Tacoma. His vocational and hobby interests were always with cars. He lived in Seattle the past 15 years where he died Oct. 7, 2007.

He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his mother, Helen Bugher Cahan in Seattle. He will be sorely missed.

Remembrances may be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness, 802 N.W. 70th, Seattle Wa. 98117.

Erna (Dammann) Kroll

Erna left us peacefully on Sept. 11, at age 95. Born and raised in Ahrensburg Germany, she married Carl H. Kroll in 1934 and then moved to West Seattle. They built their own house here in which they have happily lived together for 73 years.

Over the years they have enjoyed numerous trips to Germany as well as the rest of Western Europe to visit with relatives and childhood friends.

Patricia Louise

Pennington-Wylie aka "Pidge"

Born Oct. 19, 1965 and left this world Nov. 1, 2007. She was 42-years-old and she lost her life due to liver failure.

Pidge is survived by: her mother; sister Suzan; brother Ralph; and husband Tom Wylie. Aunt of Tisa Fakatoufifita (deceased). Pidge loved and claimed as her chosen child Samantha Camerer.

Pidge affected everyone with her adventurous spirit, she lived life fearlessly.

Past, present and future pondered on Burien trek

A confluence of events caused me one day last month to be walking soaking wet past Sylvester Middle School while contemplating Burien's future.

Reaching a landmark birthday leads some to choose a challenge that marks the occasion, such as parachuting from a plane or climbing Mount Rainier.

After hitting 60, I just wanted to see if I could recreate one of my adolescent three and a half mile strolls from Sylvester through downtown Burien to my boyhood home at South 146th Street and Fifth Avenue South (now conveniently called Mathison Park) without the need for oxygen.

Public asked for leads in

attempted store robbery

October 28-A knife-wielding man attempted to rob the Walgreen's Drug Store at Southwest 148th Street and Ambaum Boulevard Southwest.

Last week the King County Sheriff's Office turned to the public for help in locating the would-be thief.

Burien police said a man entered the store, approached the checkout counter and showed the clerk a 12-inch butcher knife while demanding money from the till.

When the 54-year-old female clerk tried to walk away, the man went around the counter, grabbed her

Mount Rainier Drill Team Takes 1st Place Trophy

Twenty four Dance and Drill teams competed for top honors last Saturday, November 10th at the Lake Washington Dance and Drill Competition. Eleven teams competed in the drill category in the first event of the season. The Mount Rainier H.S. Drill Team took home the 1st place trophy for their outstanding performance in the drill category. The team started off their season setting the bar high and they rose to the occasion. Many hours of practices and perfecting routines were required to take the trophy home.

Food and toy drive set for Des Moines area

The annual Community Food and Toy Drive for Des Moines and Federal Way kicks into high gear this weekend, and South King Fire and Rescue is asking for the public's generosity once again.

Donations of canned goods, non-perishable (dry) food items and new, unwrapped toys (no stuffed animals, please) will be accepted at each fire station from Saturday, Nov. 17, through Dec. 12.

Donations of cash or checks made out to the "Community Food and Toy Drive" will also be collected.

Delivery of food and toys to needy families is set for Dec.

Diabetes cooking demonstration planned at La Canasta

A cooking demonstration for Hispanics and Latinos interested in healthy eating habits will be given Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at La Canasta grocery store and restaurant in Burien.

Two recipes-for chicken and cilantro and a pinto bean salad-will be prepared from 2:30 to 5 p.m. by Edgar Lopez, a peer educator with Sea Mar Community Health Centers

La Canasta is located at 13602 Ambaum Blvd. S.W. in Burien.

November is American Diabetes Month.
