Urgent need for foster families

The shortage of foster homes is so critical in the Highline area that, occasionally, social workers have children in foster care sleep on couches in their offices.

On rare occasions, they take these children to a hotel to spend the night.

If you are interested in opening your home and your heart to a child, you are invited to a free informational class - Steps Towards Becoming a Foster Parent - on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Treatment of rioters faulted

The anarchists-in-training from The Evergreen State College who were recently arrested for rioting at the Port of Olympia may be terribly misguided in their radical beliefs, but they are probably sufficiently observant to take note of the recent decision of the Olympia city prosecutor to dismiss charges against the first of the rioters.

Not only were the charges of criminal trespass dismissed against the first of the 62 who were arrested, but the clear implication of additional dismissals in the future was contained in the statement by the prosecutor that to prosecute these rioters

U.S. needs to leave Iraq

General Petreaus' and Ambassador Crocker's September testimony to Congress included plans for the withdrawal of a few troops from Iraq. But the general and the ambassador also laid out plans for a long-term U.S. military occupation of Iraq, creating a compliant, protected regime in the oil-rich heart of the Middle East. A long-term military occupation of Iraq is a bad solution to a failed war policy.

Our members of Congress should be working towards an end to the war that people in this country of all political parties can unite around.

With each letter he writes he sends the wrong message. It's not about the content or strength of his argument, it's about the attitude and manner in which he says it.

The election is over but Mr. Seale still finds the need to sling mud and fight about it. I voted for Gordon Shaw (as I'm sure Mr. Seale did) and was happy about the results. It's just too bad that we are still having to read about how Mr.

Initiative ruling debunked

How dare the five Supreme Justices (Idiots) insist that the electorate did not know what they were reading or signing up for on Initiative 747 when almost 60 percent of the voters approved setting the property tax at a limit of 1 percent?

And of course my favorite Justice Bobbe Bridge, the Drunk, who wrote the opinion rejecting Initiative 747 is retiring, Thank God, so we won't have to worry about her drunken stupor decisions any longer, but the others four idiots, Susan Owens, Barbara Madsen and the two "ringers" Stephen Brown and Teresa Kulik are still around, so remember these na
