Politics as usual in Federal Way

Governor Christine Gregoire addressed a packed Twin Lakes Country Club during the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce's monthly membership luncheon last Wednesday, September 3. The governor took a few jabs at her opponent's attack ads, while reassuring the large group of Federal Way's business community that Washington's economy remains strong. After the governor's speech, the Chamber held a debate among the candidates for state representative positions.

Police chase down suicidal suspect

1. Federal Way officers arrived at the scene of a possible suicide attempt at the View at the Lake Apartment complex located on the 30600 block of Pacific Highway South. When the police pulled into the apartment complex, they witnessed the suicidal subject pull away in a vehicle. The subject was driving very fast, the report stated. Officers caught up with the subject at the Great Floors parking lot nearby. When they approached the subject, the officers observed serveral cuts on both of his wrists. The officers determined that the cuts looked self-inflicted and intentional.

Raiders outgunned by Tahoma in opener

As far as being competitive, the Thomas Jefferson Raiders weren’t much to the visiting Tahoma Bears, who lit up the home team, 58-32, with the score 42-0 by halftime in an opening South Puget Sound League North Division football game played at Federal Way Stadium Friday night.

Anything good to say after this one with a score like that first half?

North Highline

Two men shot

Sept. 4-Two men were shot in a North Highline apartment complex parking lot.

The incident happened in the 12200 block of Ambaum Boulevard Southwest at about 8:30 p.m.

According to witnesses, a man in a vehicle pulled into the parking lot and began arguing with three men there. The suspect then shot two of them before speeding off.

The victims were taken to Harborview Medical Center where they were listed in serious condition.
