Cinco de Mayo in and around Ballard

By Samantha Getz, Intern

Looking for a place to celebrate all things mexican for Cinco de Mayo tonight? Here's what's going on in and around Ballard:

Take your tequila by the horns at The Matador

The Matador isn't just a Mexican restaurant, they also offer over 130 tequila options. It’s Old world Mexico meets Texas saloon.

Well tequila brands start at $6.50 and vary up to $300 a shot for the tequila connoisseurs.

They’ve got the typical shooters, blanco, aged, extra aged, rested and a variety of other tequilas suitable for the varied tongues.

The establishment has three other locations in the area, as well as a couple in Oregon and Idaho, but the Ballard location remains their flagship.

The open fireplace warms the interior during the dreary days, and the outdoor patio offers dining in the sun. For the gluten-free and vegetarian Ballardites, there is a menu for you, too.

If mariachi music isn’t your thing, enjoy the alternative rock tunes that typically frequent the speakers there.

Parks and Rec wants your input on how to develop trails

Seattle Parks and Recreation seeks input from trail enthusiasts on how to preserve and develop Seattle Parks and Recreation soft surface walking and hiking paths. In April, Parks hosted two public meetings to gather input on park trails, and now asks the public to take the short survey and provide us with additional information.

Trails and related activities rank high on the list of activities that Seattleites enjoy, and the public survey will provide essential direction in how Parks protects and improves these assets.
Seattle Parks and Recreation is using its trails inventory not only to plan work for the next five years, but to create an opportunity to work with stakeholders, citizens, and community organizations to develop partnerships and a longer term vision for our trail system through 2020 and beyond.
